Lego Store, Battersea Power Station
New Store Build Project
London's most exciting new shopping and leisure destination at the iconic Battersea Power Station.
Project Timeline: 12 weeks from March 2023 to May 2023
In Spring 2023, our team began the new store build for Lego at Battersea Power Station.
This was a challenging shop fit due to the rules and regulations set by BPS. The paperwork required was fairly extensive and the store had to be BREEAM rated.
The BREEAM rating affected lots of aspects of the store causing us to source specialist items that complied with the requirements.
This was a complete shop fit taking the retail unit from a shell and creating a modern looking Lego store with the new light and dark grey flooring tiles and the black ceiling with black LED lighting.
We also manufactured and installed a one-of-a-kind button on a podium for the “Spark Imagination” light up display. This is featured in this store only and is an exciting attraction for the children (and adults) that visit the store.
This store has a raised area at the rear of the sales floor which required us to install a platform lift so that all customers and staff could access all of the sales floor no matter their mobility status.
Due to the regulations of Battersea Power Station and it being a listed building, several original features from the Power Station Building were required to be conserved in their original condition. We also were required to leave the sales floor ceiling open but were permitted to apply specialist paint to the area to keep with the aesthetic that Lego wanted to maintain.
To ensure the safety of the customers and the staff, we installed a glass balustrade around the upper level and stairs.
A new HVAC system, sprinkler system and fire alarm system were installed and then tested and commissioned. These needed to meet the specialist requirements set by Battersea Power Station.
This store required a PAVA system to be installed and connected to Battersea Power Station’s PAVA system. Our fire alarm team installed this as per the spec and connected it successfully.
Fixtures supplied by Lego were installed on the sales floor by our team. Some required electrical connections which were completed as needed.
Once the store build was completed, specialist cleans were completed so that the store was ready for the staff to prepare the stock ready for opening.
